This Daily Update will most likely contain a bunch of 'big room' house/electro along with some other stuff on the side (I say most likely because I'm only on the intro haha). No more time wasting from me. ENJOY!
Andy Caldwell - We Are The Future (Revolvr Remix)
Maison & Dragen, Christian Burns - Perfectly (MaRLo Remix)
D-Rashid - Seu Amigo (Massivedrum Remix)
Franz Novotny - Snatch (Original Mix)
H.P. Baxxter - Who The Fuck Is H.P. Baxxter (Original Mix)
This is something that I posted on facebook the other day, and I really wanted it to be something that people could look back on instead of getting lost on the facebook page. This topic means alot to me and I hope everyone understands where I'm coming from. Thank you guys for all the support thus far. "I was recently asked by a close friend what the mission statement, or goal of my blog is. This is what I came up with, and it is something that it is very important to me in relation to Electronic Music Today. I havent revised it or anything, this is just the plain and simple goal I have for EA.
The goal I have for 'Electronic Anything' is to bring back the open-mindedness that I feel has been lost through all of the elitism and cross-genre hate that has erupted the past couple years. I cant stand to see such negativity spread throughout what it supposed to be such a positive culture. Each genre of EDM brings something special and unique to music and live shows that sets it apart from everything else. Even if its not your favorite genre or style of Electronic Music, try to appreciate everything for what it is supposed to be, and not what you would rather it be. Electronic Music has become so diverse, we really are incredibly fortunate to see music cross over into this realm of almost unlimited possibilities. Listen to something different. Look up a new genre on beatport. Always keep an open-mind :]"
I dont think its possible for me to put into words how excited I am to do an Event Preview for this show. If you havent had the pleasure of being introduced to Big Gigantic, Dominic Lalli (Production/Sax) and Jeremy Salken (Drums) have created what I without a doubt will say is one of the most soulful, and unique duo's in Electronic Music today. Before I was ever big on 'edm', I was a live music fanatic. I would attend anything live music; from Muse, to Mannheim Steamroller, to Billy Joel, and everything in between, there is something unique and different to experience and take away from every show, no matter how weird or foreign it may seem (I've seen Riverdance live, which if youve never seen it it's quite awesome haha, crazy dope Irish tap dancing music lol). The way Big Gigantic fuses together the best elements of seeing both a live band and a DJ perform is really indescribable until you see it live for yourself. Even though I live for those moments at shows where every single hand is raised in the air until the whole crowd simply explodes into insanity (which by the way, Big G definitely delivers their fair share of those haha), I can safely say that seeing Dom do what he does on that Sax gives me chills like nothing else. Linked just below this is Big Gigantic's BRAND NEW video they put together from their NYE show at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois. Please take a couple minutes and check this video out, especially those of you who have not yet discovered them! I promise this video will give you a little taste of the chills you get when you see them live!!
(FYI: My favorite Big Gigantic songs are embeded at the bottom of this post! )
BIG GIGANTIC - NYE ARAGON BALLROOM : WINTER TOUR
'Big G' has developed such a huge, devoted following in Tallahassee, and this is the 3rd time they have come here since 2011. Moving from the Engine Room, to LIT, and now finally to The Moon (one of the biggest and best venues in Tallahassee), it really is so incredible to see how far these guys have come in such a short time because of their devotion to doing what they love. They have grown in popularity not only here in Tallahassee, but all across the country; Selling out Red Rocks Amphitheater in their homestate of Colorado, and playing some of the biggest venues and festivals America has to offer (Ultra, Wakarusa, Electric Forest, All Good, Summercamp, Snowball, Snowglobe, The Hangout, Lights All Night, and many more)! Here is a short video I took the last time they were here at LIT nightclub, the end of the video is pretty nuts!
BIG GIGANTIC AT LIT NIGHTCLUB 2-1-12
NOTE: Chadwick Morris Photography will be there taking pictures this Thursday for Big Gigantic at the moon, so be sure to look for him during the show and check the facebook page after the event for the uploads!
Before I link a bunch of my favorite Big G songs, I want to quickly thank Big Gigantic and their managers for consistently making sure that they include Tallahassee as a stop on their tours. Its one thing for an artist to stop here once, its another thing to come back to a small town like this 3 times in two years when they are selling out the biggest venues in the biggest cities across the country. So thank you guys, this town will always welcome you back with open arms!
Lately ive been trying to expand my music knowledge to areas I havent explored as much, and Ive found a bunch of new Tech/Deep House Artists, New Songs by a couple of my old favorites, and one of my favorite styles of edm, JUNGLE! I hope you enjoy!
KEITH & SUPABEATZ These guys are definitely one of my FAVORITE new discoveries. Going through their soundcloud I found so many songs I just had to snag! These guys definitely bring something different to the table, but thats probably why I like them so much! Here are a couple of my favorites!
Rolfe Kent - Dexter Main Theme (Keith & Supabeatz Remix) This is a song that everyone should hear, ESPECIALLY those of you who are a fan of the show Dexter! I never got to into Dexter, but holy crap I absolutely LOVE this remix. I've easily played this song 15 times in the past two days, I cant get enough!
Mumdance & Brodinski - Eurostarr (Keith & Supabeatz Remix) This song is WAY different than pretty much anything else on my library. The whole song is based around this SICK tribal sounding drum beat that will seriously MURDER a dancefloor!
Panton vs Keith & Supabeatz - Liquidance (Dance is in the title of this track for GOOD REASON. Listen and find out why :] )
Peo de Pitte - Who Do You Love (Keith & Supabeatz Remix) (This is just such a fire house track. I've never heard the original so I cant say how this compares, but I highly doubt it is better than what these guys turned it into!)
Mighty Dub Katz - Magic Carpet Ride (Keith & Supabeatz Remix) (Latin influenced house music has always appealed to me, possibly because I grew up near Miami lol, and this song is no exception! Great track!)
MANY MORE AFTER JUMP!!!!
Neoteric & Wax Motif - Go Deep (Keith & Supabeatz Remix) (This was probably the LAST song I thought I would find another remix of that I would Love, but I cant help it. Even with how many times I played the Torro Torro Remix and Killagrahm DnB edit of this track, Keith & Supabeatz still managed to make this remix dope enough that I can still listen to it over and over again!)
Swick & Tranter - Mad Dings (Keith & Supabeatz Remix) (I was so close to almost leaving this out of the post, but lucky me I saw it before I published this lol. Absolutely crazy this track is too damn sick!)
TOTALLY ENORMOUS EXTINCT DINOSAURS Somehow or another, T-E-E-D managed to slip past me for quite some time (they have over 360,000 followers on soundcloud lol). Besides having the dopest name ever (haha), T-E-E-D has that bass heavy, almost jungle sounding feeling that I have acquired such a strong taste for! Take a listen to some of my favorite tracks!
Fur Coat and Argenis Brito - Space Ballad (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix) (This is definitely my favorite T-E-E-D song. Its nothing too complex, but when the bass kicks in at about 1:15.... UGHHHHHHHH lol. SO DAMN GOOD.)
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Blood Pressure (Original Mix) [feat. Riko] (This is a very unique song for T-E-E-D, I have yet to find anything they have produced that sounds even remotely like this. Very uptempo in comparison to most of their work, they combined a Jungle-ish beat with some DOPE reggae vocals, and the result is too damn sick!)
Katy Perry - Firework (Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs Remix) (Yes. Read it again. You read it correctly. I am posting a Katy Perry Remix haha. This is the first version of Firework that has made its way onto my computer, and I am pretty sad that it took this long for me to find it. But then again, now that the song hasnt been played in a while those vocals are pretty nice :P )
Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs - Dream On (At first glance, I thought I might be in for an Aerosmith remix, but thats definitely not the case haha. This is a much milder house song, but the funky bass beat wont let my head stop bouncing lol. ENJOY THIS ONE!)
DANIEL PORTMAN I found Daniel over a year ago from his song 'Rock The Key'. Even before I got to big into some of the other genres of house music, this song hit a spot that few songs manage to reach. Now unfortunately, I didn't even think to look Daniel up further until about two months ago when a good friend of mine mentioned him to me, and Im so damn glad he did! Here's some of my favorites!
Daniel Portman - Rock The Key (This is that first song that I found over a year ago, and still is by FAR one of my favorite house songs to date. I feel like this song is one of those perfect jams that would absolutely DESTROY a dancefloor, and I hope I manage to see this track do that one day!)
Daniel Portman - You're Not Alone (This is the song my buddy recommended I listen to a couple months back that made me want to go back and research Daniel Portman more. I absolutely love this dude's style, and I really hope to see him release some more music very soon!)
Daniel Portman - Bird of Prey (I havent quite figured out why this song is called Bird of Prey, but whatever his inspiration was for making this song definitely did the trick!)
Daniel Portman - Dark Age (Another track that I have absolutely no idea where the name came from. Even with a name like Dark Age, this is probably the most uplifting Daniel Portman track Ive downloaded thus far! Irony I guess lol. Enjoy!)
Im devoting this next part of this post to the DIRTYBIRD LABEL. If you havent already heard, about the bird, there are some of the dopest artists around on there lol.
DIRTYBIRD: The Dirtybird Label, created in January 2005 in San Fran, is getting some MAJOR attention from around the world. Claude VonStroke and Justin Martin began this adventure with the help of their friends with the goal of changing the San Fran music landscape by throwing an epic free party based on this new sound they had developed. The reason why these guys stick out most to me is because of how much fun you can tell they have, not only when you listen to interviews and radio shows, but also in their music. There is almost nothing I'd rather support more than good people like these guys who are trying to bring something new and fun to a culture that has gotten cluttered with so music that all is beginning to sound very similar. Enough Talk, Here are my favorite Dirtybird Tracks:
Claude VonStroke & Justin Martin - Beat that Bird (Claude and Justin are without a doubt the leaders of the label, and this is by far my FAVORITE dirtybird track ive found thus far! This is a great example of how these guys try to have fun with their music. From the phrases and words they repeat, to the subtle whispering during the drop (It took me like 15 times to finally hear it lol) this song makes me laugh everytime I hear it. Don't mistake this track for a joke though, because if you have a good sub on when the bass drops, you are absolutely going to lose your mind! ENJOY!)
Justin Martin - Ruff Stuff (Eats Everything Remix) (I have barely gotten the chance to look up much of Eats Everything's library of music, but I'm saving that for a day when I really need to find some dope new stuff haha! I have always been a fan of the more bass heavy genre's which is why I enjoy so much music I find from this label. Eats Everything absolutely crushes this one. ENJOY!)
Justin Martin - Hood Rich (This is another great example of a song that not only will keep your body bouncing, but probably leave you smiling as well. What starts off with a very melodic intro eventually drops into a beat with some of the strangest noises I've heard in a song lol. Please check this one out! Its a keeper! ENJOY!)
Mark Starr - Rood Boy (Mark Starr is a new face to the label, but from the music he's been producing lately its looking like you will be hearing alot more from him this year! Besides already having a song released on OWSLA (He remixed Alex Metric's song Rave Weapon) this song has been getting HUGE support from Claude and fellow Dirtybird artists. When this song was played at the Dirtybird NYE party in Miami, the whole place went absolutely nuts. Congratulations to Mark for coming so far, he's a prime example of putting years of work into something you love to make it work. This song is coming out soon so be on the lookout for it!)
Kill Frenzy - Booty Clap (How could one possibly not like a song called 'Booty Clap' lol. Kill Frenzy is another artist I highly recommend researching! This song is an absolute gem for throwing on during a party! ENJOY!)
FOAMO This guy was an INSTANT favorite of mine the second I heard 'Vibrations'. I wish I could find more artists who have a sound like this man does, because he brings something so unique to his upbeat style of Jungle infused tunes! This is another guy who keeps quiet alot, but hopefully he will blow up sometime in the near future because right now not nearly enough people are demanding that this dude release some new shit! lol. Here's my favorite songs from Foamo:
Foamo - Vibrations (This was the first song I heard by him that had me instantly hooked! The chill buildup was plenty motivation for me to click the download button on this, but when I heard what it finally dropped into... HOLY CRAP. Turn the bass up and ENJOY!)
Foamo - Centavo (This was the song that I though was going to trigger Foamo's blowup into the mainstream. I first heard it in Bassnectar's Amorphous Music Mixtape Vol. 7 which is why I thought he would finally catch on, but somehow he has slipped past the ears of so many people. There's something about this song that triggers that kind of tribal feeling inside me that just wont let me stop moving. This is a MUST LISTEN! ENJOY!)
Breakage - Fighting Fire (Foamo Remix) (There is one reason you need to listen to this song. The damn bassline lol!)
Foamo - Celestial (This is a much more relaxing and mild song for Foamo, but dont let that make you skip over this one. With a crazy Caribbean/Jungle infused beat, this is an absolute golden find. Foamo, you are too damn sick!)
NEW FINDS FROM OLD FAVORITES:
These are just some newer additions to my library from artists I've been following for a while. They arent necessarily all brand new, but I have downloaded most of these within the past two weeks or so. Be sure to look some of these artists up if anything sparks your interest!
Joe Brunning - Blow Your House Down
(This man was made a instant favorite of so many House music heads when Carl Cox, Oh Yes Oh Yes the man himself Carl Cox lol, dropped his song 'Now Let Me See You Work' during the 2011 edition of Ultra Music Festival (If you havent seen the video click HERE, its absolutely insane). Somehow or another this man has so few tracks I can find out, but I was ECSTATIC to see his name pop up the other day. Here's his newest jam: BLOW YOUR HOUSE DOWN!)
Delta & Futuristic Polar Bears - Hear My Call (My Digital Enemy Remix)
(This song is just a killer house song that has yet to fail to get me up and moving! This is a big favorite of mine I hope you all enjoy!)
Anjulie - You & I (Solidisco Remix)
(I love when edm is blended with pure sounding real instruments. It gives you such a great blend of what makes both styles of music so awesome to listen to. This is a great track, I hope you guys ENJOY!)
The Salsoul Orchestra - 212 North 12th St. (WhiteNoize Remix)
(This is a perfect follow up to Solidisco's You & I remix. If you enjoyed that one definitely give this one a good listen! ENJOY!)
Groovebox - Gangster
(This song is just GANGSTER lol.)
Avrosse - Gangster (Original Mix)
(This song might be even MORE Gangster lol)
Mark Broom - Satellite
(I FINALLY was able to stumble across this one. I heard Carl Cox drop this last year at Ultra and I was dying to figure out what this song was ever since. I love Carl Cox's taste in music the dude absolutely kills it!)
Yesterday was a pretty solid day for new music, so it came as a shock to me when I found enough new releases today to make another post haha. A lot of what I found today were Album/EP releases, all of which are SO DAMN GOOD. Fuck the writing, I'll get right to the music :D
ALBUMs/EPs:
DATSIK - COLD BLOODED PT. 1
(This was probably my biggest surprise of the day. I had no idea that a new Datsik release was due out so soon, but damn I'm so happy with this release. Datsik's last Album 'Vitamin D' was a big favorite of mine when it was released. I still play Double Trouble at least a couple times a week lol. This 7 Track EP is nothing short of epic if you enjoy your dubstep nice and filthy. Here are a couple of my favorites. ENJOY!)
Datsik - Automatik
Datsik - Juicebox
Datsik & Excision - Vindicate
Datsik - Cold Blooded
INFECTED MUSHROOM - FRIENDS ON MUSHROOMS, Vol. 1
(Infected Mushroom has been a long time favorite of mine. Way back in the day when I was still a metal kid, the only electronic music you would really find on my ipod was either Pendulum or Infected Mushroom. Long story short, Infected Mushroom has a special place in my heart. And this EP, although short, is perfect. This is the perfect blending for me between the newer Infected Mushroom of the past year and a half, and the older Infected Mushroom from their live band days. Please give this EP a full listen, I posted all four tracks below. ENJOY!)
Here's another Daily Update!!! I post these alot on Monday's because so much is released at the beginning of each week. I hope you guys enjoy!
The Killabits - Errbdy!
(This is DEFINITELY my favorite new tune of the new year. The energy from this song is absolutely AWESOME. It starts off with an upbeat House drop that almost reminds me of Hardstyle, followed by an INSANE Trap drop that is sure to get every Ass on the Dance Floor dropping! AMAZING!)
The Upbeats - Diffused EP
(This EP was just released, and if you dig DnB I HIGHLY recommend downloading this. Here is my favorite track off the EP (Undertaker). I absolutely love this one, such a heavy hitter!!!)
Razihel - Falcon Punch
(I have never heard of Razihel before, but I was pretty impressed by this song. This song is complextro to the EXTREME. Awesome Melody, Epic Drop, and Sick Dubstep Breakdown!)
(Thumbs up for this picture lol)
Gareth Emery - Meet Her In Miami
(Taking the classic dance song 'Meet Her At The Love Parade' by Da Hool and adding his own special touch, Gareth Emery has released yet again another amazing song. If you havent heard the original, I highly recommend that as well.)
Joe Ghost - Are You Ready (Hardwell Remix)
(Over the past couple years, Hardwell has exploded onto the EDM scene, becoming one of the biggest names out today. This is his most recent release. If you dig those Big Room hits, you will absolutely love this one.)
I wasnt planning on making another post today, but I just couldnt resist sharing some of the music I found today. Its a mix of all genre's as usual, this post has an abundance of upbeat, high energy, party jams! There are a bunch of singles, a couple song previews, and a few album recommendations as well! ENJOY!
Matt Simmers, Jon Spero, and Chris Barlow came together in 2005 to form the Bass Heavy Trio now known as Terravita. For the past 7 years they have been one of the biggest underground names in Bass Music. Since then, they went from casually appearing on my 'Recently Played' Playlist, to regularly appearing on my 'Top 25 Most Played' Playlist. Terravita is extremely unique, combining the expansive musical talents of all 3 members, they are able to put out some insane bass heavy tunes that you dont hear from just any artist these days. Below I posted some of my favorite Terravita Tunes from the past couple years, along with links to the event this Friday. If you want to experience a DJ set you cant get at just any show, I HIGHLY suggest making the trip out this weekend. You absolutely WILL NOT be disappointed. Electronic Anything Loves Terravita! Terravita Social Media Links: Facebook Twitter Soundcloud Terravita - Lords and Ladies
J.Rabbit, Tremourz - Sexy Party (Terravita Remix)
Terravita - Freak Out
Terravita - Total Solar Eclipse
Terravita - Up In The Club
Bassnectar - Upside Down (Bassnectar & Terravita Remix)
David Heartbreak is a producer I hadn't listened to too much of until I heard he was coming to Tallahassee a couple months back. You cant really classify David into any one specific genre; blending elements from Dubstep, Electro, House, Moombah, Hip-Hop, and beyond David makes going through his soundcloud quite a unique treat. I had the pleasure of talking with him briefly on facebook and he sent me a list of his 3 favorite productions (which i posted below). I highly recommend giving this dude a listen, he's a great guy and will definitely respond to your posts on his social media sites if you have any questions about him or his music. Check out the stuff below!
David Heartbreak - Reasons
(Super chill jam. This is quite the production and its some SERIOUS vibe music for sure. Incredible.)
David Heartbreak - Lost & Found
(Another super chill jam. The sample from that 90s song I cant think of at the moment is so damn dope. Mad mad props on this dude.)
David Heartbreak - Incredible Hulk
(Bass heavy trap tune will definitely get your speakers bumpin!)
HERE ARE MY FAVORITE DAVID HEARTBREAK TRACKS:
TC - Tap Ho (David Heartbreak Remix)
(Such a sick remix. Just found this one the other day, its in my new Daily Post from 1/8/13 as well. Seriously check this one out)
